Exploding Car!!!
For a programming test I recently took I was asked to make an object that explodes, I chose a car model I was given by an amazing artist by the name of Alan Alvarez ( http://alanalvarezb.wix.com/8bull) after about 2 hours i had what I needed in terms of functionality but i decided to embellish a little just for the fun of it , I wrote scripts that increase the drag to contain the projection of the pieces in a smaller area for a greater visual effect and then decrease the drag to allow gravity to apply itself on the pieces. I also had to add the sound effects which i mostly got from free sound.org and a user by the name of ra_gun and created the explosion particle effect myself . Lastly I wrote some code to perform rotations at random speeds and angles to simulate the explosion from different angles of collision. Unitys' simulation is very faithful so without the rotation the car essentially explodes roughly the same way with the parts usually falling in the same positions with little variation. the rotation made everything a bit more exciting!
